Fidan Akhundova

In 2013, I graduated from the State Academy of Arts in Azerbaijan with a Bachelor's degree in Illustration. In 2014, I received a DAAD scholarship and moved to Germany to continue my studies and obtain a Master's degree at the anthroposophy-orientated Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences. During my studies, I led art workshops with the children and teachers in South Africa and Romania together with other Master's students, reflecting on the role of art in social change and deciding to explore pedagogy. I studied Bachelor of Arts at the FH Potsdam from 2016 to 2021. In 2020, I made my first animated film, which won two awards in international festivals. Since 2021, I have been working as a volunteer illustrator for various non-commercial organisations and activists from Azerbaijan that deal with political, human rights  issues. In 2022, I represented the Azerbaijani pavilion at the 59th Venice Art Biennale with a theme on women's rights.

The focus of my work, be it education or art, is the human being with its ambivalence and fragility.
